It is a unique feeling to sit here at my desk in the let-down of finally getting a book to the stage where it is ready to go. Or at least where I think it is ready to go. “Will readers like my baby?” is the thought that comes to mind. Like I said above a weird feeling.
One thing that comes to mind is how often I realized that it is easier to do something or show a picture than it is to textually describe it. Head space and experience is one of those things. Sometimes it’s just better to go out in the garage and start messing around. I hope you will and I like to think that this book might give you a head start as you go about making your paddle.
Another issue that pops into my mind is the non-linear nature of woodworking. Making a paddle doesn’t always go from A to B to C to D. Sometimes you backtrack or improvise or go off on a tangent. This is one of the beauties of a DIY project. I tried to balance that out with maintaining what I hope is a reasonable order of construction. Fingers crossed.
