Canoecopia 2015 blew in on some very warm sunny air this year. From what I saw, the show looked huge and busy and full of happy paddlers, like it usually does. I volunteered at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) booth on Saturday morning, which was fun to see and feel. Lots of people out walking and talking and looking. The ALNC is an environmental education non-profit right here in Madison. In fact the HQ is only about a five minute walk from Rutabaga. The City of Monona, in a moment of wisdom, set aside a beautiful little chunk of woods and marsh smack in the middle of the city. The ALNC came along and the rest is history. It’s a sweet little spot in the middle of the city, just behind Peet’s Coffee on Broadway.
After the booth time, I was up in the Atrium for an afternoon “show and share” about paddle making. Very enjoyable. Also non-stop talking about making paddles.
Happy paddling and even more Happy paddle building!
